Gowa, Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, April 4, 2019 – Covered area near to 2000 sqm, Suntory Garuda new finished goods warehouse equipped with 2200 double-deep pallets, Barcoding System and load 60,000 cartoons in a day. This new facility located in Gowa is expected to create new jobs at full capacity and serve approximately seven main areas in South Sulawesi including Makassar, Kendari and Parigi. Operation of new finished goods warehouse should begin in early April 2019.

About Mizuiku 

“Mizuiku – Aku Cinta Air Bersih (I Love Clean Water)

In Japanese, Mizu stands for “water” and iku stands for “education”. Mizuiku is an education program for nature and water that has been successfully deployed in the home regions of Suntory natural mineral water since 2004. More than fifteen years of implementation, the number of program participants reached 162,000 children and parents in Japan attending teaching class and outdoor activities.

Mizuiku is a meaningful program that brings sustainable benefits to the society, especially to children and Indonesia is the second country other than Japan having Mizuiku program implemented by Suntory. The project is funded by Suntory Holdings Limited (SHD) Japan and conducted by Suntory Garuda Beverage (SGB) in partnership with local authorities, schools and a local NGO in the field of environmental and education.

The prime focus of this unique hands-on program is to educate children on the role of the water on the planet and to raise greater awareness on the importance of water resources and clean water in their daily life so that they can share understanding and initiatives of protecting and conserving water. Within first year, Mizuiku program is aimed at involving around 1000 pupils and teachers from 15 elementary schools in South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, East Java and Tangerang including access to become one of reference of environment education program in Adiwiyata schools*. Mizuiku program also offers study programs for students as well as outdoor activities including a factory tours to one of SGB’s plants to observe water saving activities and waste water treatment system at the factory's production facilities. Besides incorporating water education, the project also sponsors creation of biopore that works for soil and water conservation as well as building a rainwater harvesting to accumulating and storing rainwater for on-site use.

*Since 2006 the Indonesian Ministries of Environment and Education are working jointly to promote environmental education, within the framework of a program for Education for Sustainable Development. The Adiwiyata School Program aims to encourage schools to adopt behaviors that are respectful towards the environment.
